Everybody wants to be successful in life. People want to be rich, have a lot of friends, and become famous.
Most of us tend to focus on money. It's like a scorecard almost. When I make this much, I will be happier, when I will have this much, life will be easier. I’m guilty too. One of the things that I learned over the years is that you always have to find a way to make a money there's no doubt about that unless you are a trust fund baby. But most us have to find a way to make money. It doesn't always align with our major purpose at the beginning of our lives. You have to become an evolved person to get to that point. Sometimes we have to go through some life learnings to even figure out what our purpose could be. Like, my very first job was working in a clinic. I didn't think for a minute that I want to be a doctor or nurse. It's just a job that was fell on my lap and I took it and enjoyed it for a little while and learn some things from the job as well and I should have moved on a lot sooner than I did because I realized very quickly that I didn't want to stay there for a long period of time.
But I didn't think about my vision, I didn't set big goals for myself at that time. I kind of constantly being told that you're not that smart, you better just get a job that's going to pay the bills, you're a single mom, you can't go to University. You have to be very careful thinking something too big. But what I learned now is that you can from very very young age, start planning out your life vision and start working towards it. You are not going to get it right away. Even if you get that goal, that goal is going to change anyways. You might be happy with that goal for a little while and you will have a new goal in mind and that's how the Universe works. So the quicker you wrap your head around the better off you will be.
Now some people say ‘when I will have all the money I need, then I will figure out my purpose in life and I can do what I want to do. But you know what, it's a process, something that your purpose now, it will not be the same purpose 10 years later. You’ve got to go through the steps, your purpose will always evolve. I am starting to understand that getting to know yourself is one of your biggest jobs throughout your life and that you are constantly evolving as a person so that will always change as well. So how many times you heard the cases like someone won the lottery and saying that this is the worst thing that happened to me. The other day I was watching the TV and the guy on the death bed who won the lottery told us that, this was the worst thing that ever happened to him. I thought that my life was bad before I won the lottery but after I had all the money, it's just got even worse. So think about that, if you are not good at managing the money you have now, what makes you think you will be able to manage multi million dollar portfolio. So with you people who are looking at raising capital and learning how to buy a multi family, I want you to think about that. You know, you have got to learn to manage on a small scale before you can manage on a big scale. The challenges that come with the larger amounts of money you are dealing with believe me, it's lot bigger than the challenges with the smaller amounts of money.
I have been learning this as I go, like somebody who invests $10,000 with you is a lot different than someone who invests $1 million. You need to know how to manage the money on a scale basis. You need to start at one point and then move up from that point. That is why people who win lotteries, end up in such a bad shape because they don't do any personal development to keep themselves at that level. They have lived pay check to pay check and all of a sudden they won the lottery and don't know how to manage whole lot of money all at once.
